Day 1 : Guwahati-Shillong | ||
You will be picked up at the airport/railway station and then drive to Shillong (3 hours), the capital of the state of Meghalaya and home to the Khasi tribe. Shillong has rightly earned the sobriquet of "Scotland of the East" owing to the rolling hills, beautiful scenery and climate. On the way you will visit the beautiful Umiam Lake, a major tourist attraction located just before entering Shillong, you can visit the local market and visit Don Bosco Monument which is a 7 storey monument where you can have a glimpse of culture and tradition of North-East, Ward’s Lake where you can enjoy boating, Botanical Garden and Lady Hydri Park. Check-in the Hotel and rest of the day in leisure. | ||
Day 2 : Shillong-Cheerapunjee | ||
In the morning you will visit Shillong peak and get a bird's eye view of the entire city of Shillong and then go to Elephanta falls. Then drive to Cherrapunjee, the erstwhile rainiest place in the world. On the way, experience the beautiful rolling hills, the flora and the waterfalls, most importantly the Nohkalikai or Seven Sisters Falls, a seven segmented waterfall which falls from a height of over a 1000 ft, you can also some of the caves like Mawsmai Cave, Arwah Cave and night stay at Cherrapunjee. | ||
Day 3 : Cheerapunjee-Mawlynong-Shillong | ||
Drive from Cheerapunjee to Mwylynnong, a picturesque village located in East Khasi Hills along the India-Bangladesh border. Declared as the cleanest village in Asia by Discover India magazine in 2003, the modestly existing Mwylynnong has alternatively been known as 'God's own garden' too. Go for a short trek of the village and see the Khasi way of life and meet the locals. You can visit Balancing Rock, Sky Walk, Bangladesh View point and the longest Living Root bridge. You will then visit Dawki and river Umgnot, with pictures of crystal clear waters popular in the social media. Night stay at Shillong. | ||
Day 4 : Shillong-Guwahati | ||
Early morning after breakfast process Guwahati and visit the Maa Kamakhya Temple,which is located at the top of Nilachal Hills From where you can have an eagle eye view of the whole city then drive to Srimanta Shankardev Kalakchetra where you can have an glimpse of culture and tradition of Assam. Then in later evening you can go for Brahmaputra river Cruise or Local market visit. Overnight stay at Guwahati. | ||
Day 5 : Guwahati Depart | ||
Early morning after breakfast drive to Guwahati Airport for your onward journey home. |
